age 16 or older.



The League of Women Voters
is a nonpartisan political organization
that encourages informed and active participation
of citizens in government,
works to increase understanding
of major public policy issues,
and influences public policy
through education and advocacy.


Our members are passionate activists
who make meaningful connections and friendships.
We work together to promote political responsibility
through informed and active participation
in government.



The League of Women Voters
has always been on the forefront of efforts
to strengthen democracy,
especially by registering and educating voters.
The League does not support or oppose
political parties or candidates.
We take action and lobby for positions on
specific issues after study and consensus.

Members of the League of Women Voters
of Hays County (LWVHAYSCO) are also
automatically members of the
League of Women Voters of Texas
and the national
League of Women Voters.

Membership is open to men and women
16 years of age and older.


We are fully committed to diversity,
equity and inclusion in principle and in practice.

We envision a democracy where every
person has the desire, the right, the
knowledge and the confidence to
participate.


All members are individual members,
but you can join or renew for a second person.




Dues



$75* – recommended amount.
LWV offers a 'pay-what-you-can' option with a
minimum of $20.


All dues money, regardless of amount is split
among the three levels of the League
to sustain services and support
throughout the organization.
You will see THREE separate transactions
on your credit card statement showing the breakdown,
adding up to the dues amount you entered.

Dues vs Donations



•   The amount you choose to pay as 'dues' will be split between the national, state and local leagues.
•   There are no longer tiered membership types that include a donation to LWVHAYSCO. No part of your dues will be considered a donation.
•   You can make a donation to LWVHAYSCO on the second page of the joining or renewing process.
•   A donation must be a separate transaction from a dues payment.
•   WE RECOMMEND ALL DONATIONS BE MADE ON THIS WEBSITE.

Member Benefits


Among the benefits of becoming a member of the League of Women Voters of Hays County (LWVHAYSCO) is automatic membership in the League of Women Voters of Texas (LWVTX) and the League of Women Voters of the United States (LWVUS) with all the rich services and supports of the full organization. The League has built its relationships and effectiveness over more than 100 years of existence through its nonpartisan service to communities, our states, and our nation. Member Communications


League members will get emails and newsletters from the local, state, and national chapters of the League.

The League of Women Voters of Hays County also uses a google group, Hays LWV Central, for faster communication with members about matters related to our mission, vision, and values. The google group allows for two-way communication as members are able to let others know about events and issues of interest around the county. New or returning members with a gmail or google addresses will be automatically added. Those with other internet service providers will receive an invitation to join and can choose then to join. Members of the Hays LWV Central google group are able to choose how many and how often they wish to receive those emails. Contact sraybuck@lwvhaysco.org if you need assistance.

Town teams will be setting up their own ways to communicate among members.
